Training (407)

The Training (407) visa allows people to temporary live/and work in Australia for up to two years in order to complete a workplace based training (to improve skills for current occupation, area of tertiary study or field of expertise) or a professional development training program.

General Requirements

Be nominated by an employer in one of the following:

• Training that is required to obtain a registration, membership of license (in Australia or home country);
• Training required to enhance skills;
• Training for capacity building overseas (professional development)

As the visa applicant, you must:

• be nominated/sponsored by an Australian business or organisation
• have functional English
• genuinely intend to stay temporarily in Australia for the intended purpose
• be able to support yourself financially during your stay in Australia
• have made adequate arrangements for health insurance during your stay in Australia
• meet the relevant health and character requirements

This visa is not designed to fill labour shortages, where the applicant’s sole intention is to undertake work.
